Easy to remember rules of truss rod adjustment:

1. And up bow means the rod is too tight. Loosen it.
2. A down bow means the rod is too loose. Tighten it.

Always tighten in small increments, no more than a quarter turn at a time. The neck reacts quickly to very little tension in either direction, tighter or looser.

The neck may be perfect "out of the box" without any adjustment.
