FINISHING--Applying the oil finish
Repeat the process as outlined in the video as many times as you'd like in order to create the luster you're after.
Apply boiled linseed oil (BLO) by flooding the surface. Allow the product to soak into the wood pores. Wipe off the excess oil with an absorbent cloth or paper towels. After 10 minutes, wipe down any oil "spots" that may have appeared.
Evaluate the wood for any oil that may appear on the surface over time in the form of whitish spots.
Just be sure to buff the finish completely between coats, making sure nothing is tacky, gummy, or sticky. BLO needs to be buffed with high quality paper toweling or t-shirt material between coats.
The more time you spend building up coats, the more lustrous the final finish will appear.
The guitar body you see below was the recipient of 8 coats of BLO. It was polished with a wool pad on an orbital sander.
