Welcome to the course--Some words from your instructor

A few words about me...

I want you to feel comfortable taking this course, so here's a little more about me.

I've been building and creating since I was 6 years old when I built my first custom bicycle in my dad's shop, and have never stopped learning new methods and concepts that I can share with you. This is real, solid information you can use to lean a new skill that's incredibly rewarding.

Once upon a time, I worked for a company building pipe organs, which is where I cut my woodworking chops. The center photo below shows the casework I made for the second organ, Opus 2. The guitars are either side are two of my recent builds.

Everything I know, I'm giving to you in the form of a complete transfer of knowledge, and it's all done in the service of making music because in the end, when you play a guitar that you've created, and it works well, sounds great, and is "gig ready" you know you've done something amazing.

The reasons to build guitars are many, one of them being to create playable art. You may choose to hang them on your wall and just look at them!

Why build your own guitar? The answer might be best stated, "Why not?"

What you learn about yourself along the way, the contacts you make, the tools you'll buy, the techniques you'll apply, the stuff you'll learn, all set you in great standing with those who are creators and makers, doers and builders.

Let's do this together.
