Use paste wax that is manufactured for application on wood to achieve this level of finish. Paste wax is formulated differently than wax made for painted surfaces.

Woodworking stores have various brands, as do Home Depot and Lowe's and all the other usual home supply type locations.

Any brand of paste wax should work well.
