Where to purchase a kit and what to expect

THIS IS THE EASIEST GUITAR KIT TO BUILD FOR THE FIRST TIME GUITAR BUILDER.

All of the soldering has been done for you. The pickups, switch, pots, and capcitors are all soldered in place and attached to the pickguard, ready to install. "Plug and play" takes on a new dimension with this kit!

You can expect to learn a lot about building guitars from building this kit. Even if you don't have this particular kit, you'll learn the same things. Any "S Style", "Strat Style", or "Stratocaster Style" kit is pretty much the same with respect to the parts. What makes one more expensive than another is the quality of the parts and the finish of the wood. Some are sanded better, some worse. Some parts are flimsy and some are not.

In a world of "you get what you pay for" sometimes you actually get more than you pay for. The kit below may qualify for "getting more than you bargained for."

Kits are available from The Fretwire, Stew Mac, Amazon, Build Your Own Guitar, and others. A Google search of "guitar kits" will yield many different results.

I decided to buy this kit based solely on price. I couldn't find anything cheaper on the web, this is what I'll be showing in the build videos. It's definitely worth the money, and appears upon first inspection to be well made.

This is the kit that was ordered from Amazon. The price with shipping came to $99. I purchase necks alone from Bex Gears for $54, so this is a fantastic deal overall. The only soldering required for this kit is one wire, soldering to the spring claw. All the other wires use press-together plugs.

Here's the detailed purchase info on the BexGears kit:

Note: Okoume wood has been used extensively in building airplanes and boats. Sonically, it's similar to Mahogany, but with a brighter high end and more dynamic range.

Stew Mac sells a body blank from Okoume wood for $69.95. Just the blank!

Once you've completed building your first kit guitar, you'll have a far greater understanding of what it takes to create a guitar and may want to move on to building your own custom guitar body.

If you desire to continue your education into the world of guitar building, I encourage you to purchase the full access pass to Build Your Own Custom Electric Guitar.
